About

Event Weekend: Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October 2012
The Kanangra Classic is a great weekend of outdoor recreation held in the beautiful Kanangra Boyd National Park. Located just 146km west of Penrith and approx 30 minutes from the Oberon township the Kanangra Boyd National Park is an iconic part of the greater Blue Mountains.
The event starts and finishes at Jensens Farm just a few hundred metres from Boyd River Camp Ground. In 2012 both Boyd River Camp ground as well as Jensens Farm will be available for camping throughout the Classic weekend. There are also plenty of great places to stay in the nearby township of Oberon or at Caves House at Jenolan Caves.
The event is in its second year in 2012 and having sold out completely in 2011 and with a huge wait list we expect a quick sellout in 2012.
The weekend will consist of 4 events:
  • Sunday: Kanangra Classic – 100km Mountain Bike Enduro
  • Sunday: Kanangra Classic  - 50km Mountain Bike Enduro
  • Saturday: Kanangra Burn – a Prologue Ride – 24km Mountain Bike Ride
  • Saturday: Kanangra Challenge – A 2 day dualthon for those who like pain! A 50km TRAIL ultramarathon on foot on Saturday PLUS a 50km MTB on Sunday. Want to run only? You can do that – just register for the ultramarathon.
2012 sees the addition of two new events on Saturday.
The Kanangra Burn
The Kanangra Burn has been added on the Saturday afternoon as a prologue to the main events on Sunday. It is a warm up, a social ride or a ride for families who are not up to the full 50 or 100km distances. Entry into the prologue is cheap with all proceeds going to NPWS.
The Kanangra Challenge
The Challenge is a Duathlon held over two days. Leg one is on the Saturday and is a 50km Trail Ultramarathon RUN. Leg two is the Kanangra Classic 50km Ride held on Sunday.  A combination of the times in both the 50km Trail Ultramarathon RUN on the Saturday and the 50km Mountain Bike Enduro on the Sunday will decide the winner of the Kanangra Challenge.
Participants who would like do the Kanangra Trail Ultramarathon 50km RUN only are welcome to do so.
